Hello,

I have installed the newest (0.97.13) version of GBPVR and i find that the playback video constantly shakes. It seems as if its resizing itself smaller, bigger, smaller bigger etc.

I had SageTV installed before and it worked fine. This happens for both LiveTV and playback of other downloaded content (which do not exhibit this problem when playing via Media Player).

What's weird is that it's not just the screen, but the menus (channel up/down, pause etc.) as well that are shaking.

Any ideas as to the cause of this problem? I have used all the possible Decoder filters to no avail, and I have afeeling it's not caused by the MPEG-2 decoder because the files from my library that are playing are DIVX/Xvids.

Thanks in advance,

Are you viewing this on a TV or a PC monitor?

This makes it sounds like you're viewing on a dodgy tv-out.

I am viewing this on a normal monitor. In the main menu, everything looks fine. It's when i go into LiveTV/view videos that it goes messed up. What i was referring to as the menu was that the channel up/down controls on the livetv pic as well as the program description shake along with the screen.

Another update: It seems that recordings work fine. I.e. if i just make the program record, then play back the recorded show, the shaking is not there.
Edit: Running the tuning assistant also produces fine results on the preview screen.

your monitor isn't running at some obscure screen size or refresh rate is it? to have the whole image shake does, as sub said, sound like it's the screen thats throwing a wobbly...

no...the monitor is a Dell 20" LCD (2005FPW)...everything on the screen looks fine otherwise. And like i said before, it seems that recorded TV plays back fine. Furthermore, when i say the whole screen shakes i mean just the GBPVR window (when running windowed), not the other applications or anything else in the background.

have you tried altering the vmr/overlay options? overlay should be the least intensive setting, so this may help.
Also, does the problem go away if you run fullscreen?

i had this happen to mine, started about the 97.13 release ish. or maybe the one before that :-s

My graphics cant hack VMR9, so it runs in overlay, but when i upgrade i try it anyway on the off chance that somethings improved to the point that vmr is uesable. in the last couple of versions vmr produces a 'juddering' effect onto the video.
its hard to describe but it appears as if the corners are fine but the midpoints on each edge jump in an inch or so, then the corners follow and then it jumps back to full size. this is so quick though i cant be sure. I figured as no one else posted about anything similar, that it was just yet another example of how unlucky i was with choosing my hardware lol. Anyway, Overlay works as well as it ever did so it didnt really cause a problem...so try overlay lol
