The music plug ins are great but the way my house/system is setup the MVP goes to the stereo downstairs which then plays through the house. There are times, like now when I'd like to be able to just start winamp and select a few songs to listen to without having to go downstairs and go through the menus in the music plug ins.

you could use the dongle from mvpmc and use slimserver on your pc to serve your music for you

but the interface on the mvp for slimserver is pretty basic

where is the pc and the mvp situated in relation to your stereo system ?

I use two sound cards in my pc one plays normal windows sounds the other is used for audio playback from gbpvr this I route to my stereo for playback through the house.

what I'd like to be able to do but havent found a way is to play exactly the same music through the mvp and through a copy of gbpvr running on the pc at the same time [just because the way my house is wired up !!]

at the moment I playback through the mvp and then send the audio from that through an audio/video sender thing to another input on my amp so I can get the same music everywhere in the house

I reread your post. I think you want to control the music plugin from your computer but run the output through your mvp, is that right? If so, no I don't think you can. Ofcourse you can start gbpvr-musicplugin on your computer, but then the music will come from your computer also.

There are quite a few generic home mp3 streaming jukeboxes, in addition to shoutcast that would allow you to do what you want. There are small lag times in all of them in my experience.

Alternativly, since you mentionned slimserver with its synchronized audio option just access it in gbpvr by adding an internet radio feed playlist that would contain something like http://slimserverip:9000/stream.mp3

Just a thought, why don't you just buy a small tv/monitor set, attach it the mvp, have mvp output sound to your amp, control content using the monitor and mvp and have the full use of GBPVR from your stereo system.
