control volume with hauppauge 45 button remote

I wanted to know if it's possible to set up the hauppauge remote to control the volume of the video that is being played. Right now when I push volume up or down, it doesn't do anything. Thanks.

It works for me without making any changes what so ever. I assume you've clicked on the 'fix for hauppauge remote' in the gbpvr config?
