I noticed that in the survival guide for the latest version of GB-PVR, it breaks under IE7 as the local System account can't launch processes. Well, tomorrow, IE7 is to be a mandatory "high-priority" windows update. So does this mean that if we have auto-update on, GB-PVR will break?

Yes, quite possibly.

I do have a release sort of ready that fixes the problem. I'd rather not have to rush it out - but will if I have to. Of course those people that insist on sticking to earlier versions of GB-PVR will be out of luck.

I've just set auto-update to "notify me but don't automatically download or instal them". Hopefully this will enable me to then disable the IE7 download.

I think my household PC already has IE7. I'm not sure because the UI has changed so much that I can't even find the version number!

Anyway, this PC is set up as a GBPVR client. In a five minute GBPVR test there were no problems.

BTW, I don't allow automatic updates on my GBPVR computer (server).

I thought that was how everybody had it set. Big Grin

I've seen enough updates mess up enough machines to never let any auto-update service install anything I'm not happy with and it certainly doesn't do it until I say so.

Cheers,
Brian

The problems started at IE7 BETA 3. One of the symptoms is the "not working" of comskip. Till BETA 2 there was no problems.

We'll see soon enough.

That post was updated to say that IE7 will NOT be pushed out after all...
