Hi,
I just recently purchased a pvr-500 tuner card and MediaMVP extender and installed GBPVR so that i could use a box i have as a PVR system.

I have a Intel P4 1.5G CPU and two 18GB SCSI drvies connected to a Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller, a Hauppauge PVR-500MCE as the tuner card, and SoundBlaster Audigy2Z for a sound card the OS is XP Pro SP2.

I have a Second box a Dell PowerEdge 2400 set up as a file server running Win2003 Server it has 438GB of storage space for media. This is were i am trying to record to and all use as the Library for the media.
All of these all side on a 100MB network thats wired.

I have mapped the file server share to the pvr and in the config, under the directories tab set each path correctly were media is to be stored or recorded to, the buffer for LiveTV is also mapped.

I have been able to use the Tuning Assitant to search all incoming channels from my cable provider connected to the tuner card and this works fine i see each channel and select OK. My EPG is with Zap2it and this pulls in fine also in the config. I use the GBPVR-MediaServer to access the MVP and this works fine also. I have been able to select a item from the guide list select it for recording and it tells me that it is schduled and this seems to work also.

But when it comes time to record the show GBPVR says it recording and all but nothing get recorded.

It also seems to be ture if i try and watch live tv nothing happens.

I have read a lot of documentation but i just can't seem to figure out why i can't record or view anything from the tuner card.

I have placed some Jpegs in the photos sectionon the file share and they display fine through the MVP.

What am i missing here?

Thanks,
Ron

I think you need to look at (or post) your log-files...

Go into the "Confiig" application, make sure that logging is set to "debug" (on the "Misc" tab.

Also, disable the MVP for now (set number of MVP-servers to autostart to 0)

Stop the GBPVR service (c:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\stop.bat)

Remove all log files (del *.log)

Restart GBPVR (c:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\restart)

Go into the guide, try to watch TV and try to record a show that's currently on.

Close GBPVR.

Now you'll have a bunch of log-files (with the .log extension). These should provide some information about what's going on....

If you can't seem to find it yourself, post them here and I or someone else can have a look....

I think it may be working before youi posted i went back the the config. Checked everything then started the GBPRV on the PVR it self and setup some recordings and it seems to be recording i am seeing a lot of net traffic on the switcht from those to ports the pvr and file server.
So be before i do what what you are saying i want to see if it is working this way.
I have always used the MVP before to set up recordings so going this route might yield better results.

Thanks,
Ron

Were are the log files located doing a search of *.log brings up quite few files and all of them do not have an extention of .log.

That would be all the files with a .log extension in the gbpvr-dir.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.
