Manual EPG Edit/Import Recordings?

One of my favorite channels has a NASTY habit of moving ads around to screw up timed recordings. Since I record entire blocks of this channel, pre/post buffer has no effect on the problem:

Record show A at 11:45-12:00, and show B at 12:00-12:15.

GB-PVR correctly switches from recording A to recording B at 12:00.

Channel starts show B at 11:58, so I end up with 2 minutes of B trailing A and a partial B.

My solution is to add a manual recording C spanning 11:45-12:15 that I can subsequently edit into proper files A and B.

I find that I can import MPG files into GB-PVR, but I can't find a utility or plugin that claims to let me edit episode information so that GB-PVR properly recognizes show ID.

I would like to avoid manual XML edits if possible and instead fill in forms on a plugin screen.

Does such a plugin/utility exist?

Thanks!

Something like XMLViewer might do it?

http://www.mindfusion.org/product1.html

Freeware too. Not a plugin though. You can then import with MPEGImport, which is a plugin. btw a very nice simple, clean and free EPG VIEWER (only) for xmltv files is this one http://xmltvview.birtles.org.uk/epgviewer.html. I've used it.

XML Viewer, huh? I'll check it out, thanks for the lead.

I've already made some headway with other SQL tools mentioned on the forae, but they assume a little more expertise with queries than I have off the top of my head.

I did find MPEGImport and it may get me where I need to be in the short term.

Thanks again.

XMLViewer is certainly a useful tool, and I definitely prefer it to IE. Yet, I find that I can edit a little faster with a text editor.

GB-PVR Config will accept recording additions via XML import, but not EPG/Recording updates. I can kludge around it by renaming the applicable MPEG files, letting GB-PVR automatically remove the old entries, then rename/reimport via XML.

I need to learn more about the internal DB structure. I believe a plugin EPG editor would be useful if it is possible. If not, I'll have to get handy with SQL queries.

Thanks for the help!

if you know when it is wrong, or will take the time to change the xml, why dont you just make manual recordings for those shows? starting and ending at the right time?

Can't, they shuffle ad time around so that "right time" changes each week. Manual recording is the only option, but it MUST span all possible time offsets.

That means all individual episodes must be edited by hand, and I need a mechanism to link or otherwise edit the appropriate DB information.

LOL, welcome for the help, but you can't always have it both ways ... Smile

Yeah, you caught me. Wink I found no other way to do the EPG modification other than manually editing XML and/or mucking around in the SQLite DB.

I would still like an EPG Edit plugin to modify entries tied to Ready recordings but it looks like I might have to implement it myself.

That said, I'm still digging around for tools and may give this US$49 thing a try:

http://www.sqlmaestro.com/fr/products/sq...y_builder/

(this is a SQLite admin tool with a visual query builder)
