Hi Crew - this is a continuation of my origional issue, but I'm breaking it into a new thread so it'll be more searchable for future users.

Summary: GB PVR only allows you to write to one drive letter, i.e. G: In order to increase GBPVR recording disk capacity when your first video drive fills up, it is possible to create a SPANNED volume with a added drive. A Spanned volume appears to be a single drive (still showing up as just "G:") but the space in that "drive" is actually spread across two or more different physical harddrives.

Both installed disks need to be converted to Dynamic. Note that this will distroy all data on the disk. I was able to preserve the recording of my origioanl disk by copying all files back and forth between drives and converting to Dynamic one at a time. Convert to Dynamic instructions are here: http://www.petri.co.il/difference_betwee...0_2003.htm

My problem: Have two dynamic disks, all is well so far. I right click in the Control panel / admin tools / Disk Management area and select NEW VOLUME. My options are simple volume, spanned volume, or stripped volume. ONLY ONE OPTION IS SELECTABLE - SIMPLE. I want Spanned.

I believe a simple volume can be created and then spanned, but I can't figure out how to do that - or just get the spanned option to work in the first place.

Thanks,
Scott

Form the links, it looks like I need the "extend" function... I don't understand yet if I select the old or new/empty disk to "extend", but I'll play around and see what happens. thanks!

"In Disk Management, select the volume (which one?) and issue an Extend Volume command from the shortcut menu or the Action\All Tasks menu.
Disk Management launches the Extend Volume Wizard. On the Select Disks page, use the Available list box and the Select the Amount of Space in MB text box to specify the space to add to the volume."

I assume your files are on a simple volume on the dynamic drive, extend that volume to fill both dynamic drives
