I'm looking for a quiet and reliable 2TB or 3TB hard drive for less than £100. Any recommendations?

If you can get one the Samsung F4 2TB drives (HD204UI) I know from experience they are reliable and super quiet. I have two of them in my system. Dunno if they still make 'em though what with all the corporate buyouts in the HDD world these days.

It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Thanks Lao. I was looking at those already. Do you know what's the difference between these 2 (apart from £7)?

I've been staying away from Seagate and sticking to Western Digital. I've got a 2 TB Green that I use to record all my tv shows and movies and it works perfectly well.

You want 2 of them! For 4TB or one for backup?

I have had two of these in this machine for 12 months without incident but they are 3 Gb drives.

I have a few of the Samsung F4 2tb drives (6 I think) and I like them for their quietness and (dare I mention it) reliability. They seem to have been subsumed into Seagate nowadays though (or was it WD?).
I keep looking, but never see them for sale any more.
