Steaming video not working, mps do.

All,

I have installed the EWA build 50 on my XP machine, with the latest version of GBPVR. I have installed VLC. I believe I have opened port 7647 & 7648 on my router. I opened port 7647 on the XP firewall. I installed VLC on my Win2000 PC here at work.

I can log on and see all of my recodings, mp3s, tv guide, etc. I am able to hit the play button on mp3s and use VLC to listen to the songs. When I hit the play button an a recorded show, a VLC window opens and I see what is probably the first frame of the show. Nothing else happens. When I press the steaming button a popup box shows up, then I launch VLC, but nothing happens.

Do I need to open a VLC port 7648 on my XP firewall for video to work? Any other suggestions?

I just noticed a statistics page in VLC the values are going up, but really really slowly. Maybe an issue with my work blocking data?

Yes.....7648 must be open on both the router and the windows firewall.

OK so I opened port 7648 on my firewall & router. If I do a "check port"
as advised in another thread it shows:

Error: I could not see your service on xx.xx.xx.xx on port (7648)
Reason: Connection refused

Should some form of VLC be running on my server pc?

You will only see the port if you are streaming at the time you check the port.

What is your upspeed bandwidth with your ISP?

I have Comcast cable I'll have to double check with them, but I'ts probably 6Mbps/384Kbps.

Ok....then you are probably 384k....that is what I was at before I switched to Verizon FIOS (Fiber).

Try these settings:

128k bitrate
Use scale for video size and set it to .50 or .25
Set your audio bitrate to 32 bits
set the video encoder to h264

What you may be experiencing is bandwidth choke......these settings should get you past that.

I think you are probably right. I changed all the setting but the audio, I could not find that one. Still the same issue. I found this log under view messages:

You need to switch to manual settings to get the audio....
