Client pc File Sharing vs Streaming

I have spent countless hours trying different codecs and settings to try to optimize playback of live tv and recordings on a client pc...

I think it may now be acceptable except for fast action or panning camera angles are lagging,,,is it possible that the samsung 915n, analog 8ms monitor is partially to blame??

More importantly, I cannot seem to get file sharing mode to work....terrible stuttering...any ideas??

Streaming is the only way I get things working....

Is file sharing or streaming the preferred method for quality....???

Try copying a file locally to the client pc and playing it through the video library. That'll tell you if the 'client' aspect plays any part in your problem.

In my set up I found file sharing preferable to streaming. So much can vary from one set up to another that it is impossible to tell which will be best. You just have to try combinations and be meticulous about recording what you have tried. Otherwise you won't be able to find that one combination that worked but you just varied something to try to make it a little bit better...
