Dish updates the STB every night, default is 3am. This update resets the stb and requires a the first button pushed to be a <select> No other button is recognized unitl the select is issued.

I found only one reference/solution but with MythTv where they wrapper each channel change to start with a select.

if there isn't a solution for gbpvr already, could you add a send prior option much as there is pad 3 digits and post enter/ok?

Cheers

had same issue for awhile... however someone hinted at a possible fix here... I forgot who... and I used that info to make mine work...

Mind you my unit is actually a Dual Tuner STB, (522/625)

I setup my STB as a dual mode (instead of single), and dedicated the IR Tuner (Grn/#1) to the gbpvr box, the other tuner (Blue/#2) I configured in preferences as the preffered Tuner for DVR events. Next I created a Daily Manual Record of channel 9500 starting at 4:59AM, and ending at 4:58AM, (note this is to an external device it dont use the actual DVR)

This solution has worked well for my needs...

Are you sure that you have to push "select" first? I have a Dish box too and mine works. I do something different though. I wrote my own program that calls sub's haupblast.exe twice with the channel request to get past this problem. The first time it sends the channel when Dish has their screensaver on, it makes the screensaver go away and it only displays that only the last digit of the channel was received, but the second time it sends it (7 seconds later) it receives all of the digits to the channel. If you use haupblast.exe, I can send you this program if you want. I never miss a recording.

Depends a lot on the settop box model. I am able to eliminate the "Select..." screensaver on my 301s, and it doesn't exist on my 5000. I understand that it can't be avoided on at least one dual tuner receiver, and that scheduling a 23 hour 59 minute recording can at least render it useless.

I would really like to figure out a way to get GB-PVR channel changes via IR blaster to ensure that the DishNet receiver is turned on, though. Does anybody know if the 301 receiver has a POWER ON code (not just a POWER button toggle)?
