i've recently done a fresh installation of 0.99.5, and since doing this i can no longer cancel in-progress recordings. it's a vanilla installation, except for the MyPictures plugin (although the problem still occurs if the plugin is disabled).

i've attached log files showing the problem (and my config file). i shutdown everything, deleted the logs files and then restarted to get clean log files. i then went to the tv guide, selected quick recording for "The Weakest Link", waited a few seconds and then tried to cancel the recording. this hangs on the menu for about 20 seconds, then returns to the tv guide with the program still highlighted in red.

in the recording service log file i get the following error:

Code:
12/30/2006 5:30:19 PM.453    VERBOSE    [7]    Recording cancelled
12/30/2006 5:30:49 PM.734    ERROR    [5]    Unabled to save ScheduledRecording: The database file is locked
database is locked

   at GBPVR.Backend.Common.x396614b3dae3b1da.xc979432fcc5a510a(ScheduledRecording xe41d2b9d98dc1269)

looking the recording directory i now have 2 files: The Weakest Link_20061230_17101800.dvr-ms and The Weakest Link_20061230_17101800-2.dvr-ms.

hope you can help

Somethings locking the database but its not clear what. You could try setting <LogSQL>true</LogSQL> in config.xml, then reboot and reproduce, then post the logs.

not sure if this'll help, but i tried running sysinternal's filemon whilst reproducing the problem. the result is attached. it shows a lot of contention between gbpvr.exe and gbpvrrecordingservice.exe

also, can anyone tell me what the number in the 4th column ( [5] below) means? thread number?

12/30/2006 11:04:09 PM.109 VERBOSE [5] Now cancelling recording: 108

cheers
