I previously had comskip 0.64 installed on my computer and everything worked fine. I decided to upgrade to one of the version of comskip from this website http://mk.kaashoek.com/comskip/files/ I also installed renamerecording at the same time. Renamerecording worked fine but comskip stopped working. So I removed renamerecording and reinstalled one of the newest versions of comskip. Comskip still didnt work. So I reverted back to comskip 0.64 and it works again for me. What could be the problem? Thanks in advance!

I'm using comskip 79.62 and it's working fine here. I've always been a believer in adding new programs one at a time. Perhaps you need to get the new version of comskip working and then go on to rename recordings.

There could be a problem in black level due to recording at low bitrate.
What bitrate do you record?

I dont know, I've just recorded on medium quality. I've never changed any of the bitrate settings.

My original post says that I unstalled rename-recordings and reinstalled a new version of comskip by itself.

So you did, that's what i get for going by too fast. You don't say how it doesn't work. Does it not run at all, does it run but not find any commercials, does it not create any of the files? If it's creating the log file there may be something in there for a clue.

It looks like it runs but does not find any commercials. I've attached the log of one of the shows that I ran with version .79 (the newer version)

Looks like comskip is crashing

Do you record ATSC?

Below is part of the changelog of the newest comskip build
You use build 64
Quote:Changes in 0.79.67
- Bug solved: Incorrect processing of Australian 50fps HD recordings
Changes in 0.79.66
- Bug solved: no preview available when editing a .TXT coming from a .dvr-ms recording
Changes in 0.79.65
- Bug solved: Comskip crashes on certain ASTC recordings.
Changes in 0.79.64: do not use due to ATSC bug
- Bug solved: Incorrect Aspect Ratio used on certain segments causing big mistakes.
- Bug solved: The delete_show_after_last_commercial did not work under certain conditions
Changes in 0.79.63: do not use due to ATSC bug
- Changed the alignment of the frame numbers in the .mls bookMark file as used by the latest version of MPEG Video Wizard
- Added the option to set the title of the debugwindow to allow remote control. Default is windowtitle="Comskip - %s" where %s will get substituted by the filename
