Can the Video Archive plugin be used to replace the "Video Library" that comes with the standard GBPVR download? I have family videos that I converted to mpeg and watch on my MVP using the "Video Library". They are in a directory called Videos and then in sub-directories depending on the type of video(vacations, kids sports, holidays, etc.) When I point the "Videos" plugin to this directory I just get the hour glass. Am I doing something wrong?

I have used VA for nearly 2 years now with great success -- as far as recordings go. For items such as yours (home movies, downloaded videos, etc), I use the built in Video Library.
GBPVR v1.0.16 | Comskip | SportsScores | Weather | I-XmlTV

Server: Tyan Thunder h1000E | 2 x Opteron 2210 | 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 ECC
LSI MegaRAID 300-8X SATA RAID
1x 73GB SCSI @ 10K RPM (OS)
3x 500GB SATA @ 7.2K RPM (RAID 5) (4 Partitions: Docs, Still Pics, Home Movies, Music)
2x 160GB IDE @ 7.2K RPM (RAID 0) (Recordings)
Hauppauge HVR-1600

Client: Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H | Athlon x2 5000+ BE | 2GB PC-6400 DDR2
1x 320GB SATA @ 7.2K RPM
Antec NSX2480 Case

I've also used the VA for a long time very successfully. I like that it gets all my recordings more or less on the same screen instead of having to switch back and forth.

I have a few directories of home movies as well. It does fine, it's only rub is it keeps trying to find them on the net and download a movie poster. Sometimes it's humorous to see what it finds and puts up. Smile

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Did you try the test version posted on thee wiki site? The released version has a bug that, for first-time users, will cause the behavior you describe. If you did use the test version and would be willing to zip up and post the log files from your jeff subdirectory that would be helpful so that I can find and fix the problem for other future users.

Jeff,
I got it to work. I thought the video files on my harddrive had an extension of mpeg, but when I went out in Dos to do a directory listing the extension is mpg.
So I went to the VA configuration and put mpg as one of the extensions to search for. They videos came right up when I loaded GBPVR.
One question though, is it possible, in the config or something, to directly start a video when I hit enter? Instead of the box popping up first.
Thanks for your help!

You can press the play button on your remote (or control P on your keyboard) to play the selected video.
