Ive got the 550 ATI personal PVR package which I think is based on the same 550 Pro design.

All Ive done is install the card , catalyst drivers and GBPVR.
When setting it up under capture sources you specify the 550 Pro but other than that under EPG source/recording source ---- I dont see much else to set up in regards to the card.

Under playback theres USE SOFTWARE DECODER
Under SOFTWARE MPEG2 playback theres NERO or System default
thats it.

Im getting 30-50% CPU usage when I check just watching LIVE TV mode and
when there is motion I see interlacing lines many times.

I tried ChrisTV Professional and I dont get the interlacing lines, the picture looks slightly better in general and the CPU usage is around 7-15%. Theres also a selection under playback --- 550 pro decoder.

Ive combed through the config program options. Am I missing something?

Using a nforce 3 --- 3200 AMD system with WIN XP pro and 9600 Radeon card on this system with VRM9 chosen. Ive tried the others too.

check the Nero decoder settings and turn hardware acceleration on....or better yet, get a better mpeg2 decoder..Smile
try dscaler 5....it's freee and does a really good job at low cpu...
also, try using overlay for the output instead of vmr9...that always does wonders...but YMMV Big Grin
i usually have only around 10% or less cpu usage..
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie

OK I got it. I guess you have to use a decoder. I installed Purevideo and the CPU usage went down to 12-15 with peaks around 20% much better.

Also the interlacing problem went away. Reading through the posts I guess there are several free ones too that work OK.

I wish the all that would be in a FAQ at the top , the really basic questions
on the lists along with the NET install advice. It does tell you to install it on the GBPVR page but many people just download GBPVR and try installing it without it which causes that CANT INSTALL BECAUSE xxxx problem asked by another poster here. It would be nice to have that as a warning right on the download page.

Radford,

Many of the installation/configuration notes are maintained in the GBpvr wiki.

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php

Of course these are sometimes generic in nature (except for the sections discussing specific items such as capture cards) and may not always apply based on an individual's system.
In addition, this GBpvr forum community is and excellent resource to assist in setting up your individual system (based on my personnal experience).

Glad you could get you system operating sucessfully =)

Regards, Kevin
