I've had this for ages...well propbably since slick skin came in. I quite often use my box to surf the web\ (like now) but leave gb on the main menu in the background.
Minimised or not it gives me a 60+ % cpu usage and the fans start spining up. It's not an issue I just always wondered why this is, in focus live TV gives me about 12% and an in focus maximised main menu about 19%.

I've just looked at mine and set it to slick and it sits at zero percent.

Bizzare, I'd always kind of assumed it was the same for everyone, I'm pretty sure it's always been since slick. I came home in the summer and wifey had left firefox in front of gbpvr all day and my over temperature alarm was going off, within 10 seconds of putting gb back in focus all the temps were back at idle.
Strange eh.....would be nice to fix it but I'm not a bout to re-install or anything like that. Any thoughts as to what I can do to track the problem down?

Just looked at live tv with firefox over the top..15 to 25%. I'll try turning slick off later when the recordings stop.

Just tried again - slick, playing live TV, f/fox on top. 4% taken by pvrx2.
I wonder if there is something other than Windows task manager that pins CPU usage down at a lower level than the process?

I've done some testing.

PVRx2 menu maximised evr+slick = pvrx2 @ 14 to 17%
PVRx2 menu maximised evr+slick+firefox maximised in focus= pvrx2 @50 to 60%
PVRx2 menu maximised evr+slick+notepad maximised in focus= pvrx2 @50 to 60%
PVRx2 menu maximised evr+slick+firefox windowed in focus= pvrx2 @14 to17%
PVRx2 menu maximised evr+slick+notepad windowed in focus= pvrx2 @14 to17%

switch to blue skin and repeat results in 0 to 2% for all tests

switch to slick + VMR returns the high cpu behaviour.

I seem to remember that I have a high priority flag set in config.xml...can't remember the name of it but I will play with that next.

Just a quick update, I turned off all the high priority settings in config.xml...no suprise it didn't change anything.
I thought there was a setting in config to choose which core pvr favoured or am I going mad?

Only other thing I noticed is that the high cpu goes away if I'm in a sub menu e.g. recodings or the guide.

This is bugging me that I knowthat this isn't normal behaviour...wish I'd never posted....

Quote:a few other people have reported the same thing.
Didn't find that threads in my search thats cool, well not for those having the problem, but more chance of fixing it if there are more occurences.
