I do wanna say, that during my tests tonight, (the first day after I upgraded to gb-pvr 99.12) I couldn't get ffmpeg transcoded on the fly MPG to go out of sync. It's like something just magically started working better...

I swear I've gone over these combinations before. And all these worked on my slower machine, on the fly, WHILE recording two shows...

all my tests were with b 4000 freq 44100 ab 224 codec: mpeg2video
640x480, 480x480, 352x480, 352x240

hmm, if on the fly transcoding is working well, then I can start storing everything in xvid format and save myself a bunch of drive space. I'll have to find the time to upgrade to 99.12 and do some testing.

Definitely test before you transcode everything over. I'm not really holding my breath. Some systems, it has always worked great (I hear from others). My fast system has sort of always been better than the slow...

And I haven't read anything to indicate sub has done something to make things better. I'm certainly running more tests...

Unfortunately, MEncoder and VLC do not transcode files that always stay in sync for me. That means that I can't have colour and picture correction onthe fly..

tipstir Wrote:No, no, did you change your network buffers on your OS? The default is 4KB. Since MVP needs all the help it can get over the network streaming. I can do this 100% wireless but I need to use 125Mbps mode. Yes the MVP is set to 100Mbps.

Tipster, could you remind me, which of your network tweaks adjusts the network Buffers.

BTW. Aren't you supposed to be retired. Not that I'm complaining Smile

... no, I did understand you, but maybe Dutch and US humor are a bit different.Wink
BTW, what car do you have if all these things are standard equipped, if you wanna have something like that into a car over here you'll have to bring it to a "pimp my ride" garage.

I think that was only for skinning, guess his left hand is improving, and besides that, if not skinning anymore, what to do with all the "spare" time?... nah just joking !

Yeah I've told everyone in the real world I've decided to call it quits in skinning, but I still like my skins in the Mega Power Pack Skins to use with MVP, Wireless PC, and Wireless Kitchen MVP setup. I've tried the others skins just maybe call me creative skin maker.

The mega pack DT HD will be updated, but I don't know how long or when it will be done... Anyway I'll be around to chat...

Which one of the network tweaks specifically adjusts the network buffers?
