I've been searching the forum and wiki and can't find any documentation on setting up GBPvr channel changes via Girder. I'm very new to Girder, so maybe it is easy, but I'd appreciate any help on getting this set up. I am using Girder v3.3

Thanks

Unfortunately I cant really help you with that one - I'm not that familiar with Girder.

Thanks Sub. Perhaps you can direct me to whomever made the request to add this to the dropdown? Perhaps it's easy for those familiar with Girder, but I have no idea where to start. I'd be more than happy to add the wiki page once I figure out how to use Girder for channel changing.

I assume you're talking about the 'Girder channel changer' option? To be honest, I cant remember who asked for. It was a very long time ago. Back then, I did regularly set it up and test it in Girder, but it was about three years ago. I probably last had Girder on my machine about two years ago, and I dont even remember what it looked like now.

From memory though, it involved setting up the Girder Internet Event Server at the Girder end.

I suspect there are other ways of doing the same thing using the ".exe channel changer" instead.

Hopefully some other girder user will be able to give you a bit more to go on.

So GBPvr sends an 'event' to the Girder Internet Event Server then Girder handles that event and sends the command associated with it? Like GBPvr wants to change to channel 360 it would send an event for 3, then 6, then 0 with Girder translating each to the appropriate IR out signals?

Yeah, something like that. When the GB-PVR needs to change to channel 123, you'll get the following events sent:

GB_TUNE_1
GB_TUNE_2
GB_TUNE_3
GB_TUNE_EON
GB_CHANNEL_123

Its up to you if you decide how you configure Girder to respond to these, and whether you'll make it pay attention to the GB_TUNE_ messages or the GB_CHANNEL_ message.

Ah, okay .. Makes sense. I'll try to work through it. In the meantime, if someone has an example Girder config file to handle this type of tuning it would be really cool if they could attach it to the thread for me and others like me who might want to use Girder for tuning.

Whatever you find out I'd be interested also, perhaps you could write it up on the wiki

Sure, that's the plan. Hopefully others will be able to chime in and offer a little guidance as well.
