Recording going out of sync

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can stop my recording from going out of sync when they are encoded to Xvid?

The .avi files start off in sync but gradually they start to loose sync and by the end of the a show its a couple of seconds out. The actual MPEG file seems to be OK and does not seem to go out of sync.

What can I do to fix this?

how are you encoding the xvid files?

what is your capture source.

as a test, perhaps try recoding the mpeg file first to fix any broken timestamps. (retime.exe from wiki)
