Xbox into an extender

I'd like to turn my regular Xbox into a media extender. I know this can be done with Windows Media Center but has anybody ever tried it with GBPVR? I'd like also still use it as a game console. Any thoughts? Thx.

i have been using my xbox by installing a ftp server on my computer. and then using the ftp to watch movies.

Is there anything special you did to the Xbox? I'm assuming it acts as a DHCP client. What are the steps from the Xbox to initiate a ftp session? I can set up ftp on my pc no problem. Someone gave me an Xbox, so I'd like to try it out.

I have a modded xbox with XBMC on it. I have all of my GBPVR recordings on a network share, so I just map over to it and play them.
