I couldn't decide whether or not to add to this thread or start a new one. Anyway, I have an HVR1600 for input and a rinkydink video card with a composite-out going to my NTSC TV. WinXP displays fine, and I can see my .mpeg and .avi files in full color. However, Live TV only shows in black and white and is sometimes 1-2 seconds behind the audio. What should I do? CPU is 2.5GHz and the box is dedicated to GBPVR (ie not my main PC for work and play).

Thanks.

What video decoder and video renderer are you using?

Hardware decoder: "None - use software decoder"
Software MPEG-2 Playback: "System Default" for Video Decoder, Audio Decoder, and Audio Renderer. Video Renderer VMR9

"[x] Use Live Preview mode if possible" is checked

Thanks.

Its best not to use 'system default' for video decoder. What options does it give you?

Options I have are
System Default
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD...
I can't see the full option for the CyberLink thing

I set it to CyberLink... and now it's color. Smile Sweet.

Hmm. The audio seems to be 1/2-second behind the video for some reason. Does that have to do with the audio codec (default) or is it related to something else?

Thanks again. This platform is unbeatable!

I also just shelled out a few bucks for a new video card (AGP instead of PCI), hopefully when I install that things should be a tad better.
