Hi,

After setting up a new-build XP system with a Nova-T 500 Dual Channel card, I`ve spent about an hour scanning both devices for all the channels, and then had to wait until after 7pm to get BBC3 and BBC4 etc.

Now that both devices are setup and are unlikely to ever use another ariel feed, can I backup the channel data / frequencies so that in the event of a new software installation I can simply copy the files back and I would not
need to go through the scans again for either device ?

If this is possible, where are the files located please ?

Cheers,

You can always backup the database (gbpvr.db3), which contains your capture sources and all the channel/progamme info.

Thanks Sub, I did do a search on recently written-to files, and gbpvr.db3 was one of the ones that I knew were affected by the channel searches etc.

Is it simply a case, then, after a clean XP install, of simply installing GP-PVR, setting up the hardware and everything else in the config, without actually doing a channel search/map, and then simple replacing the gbpvr.db3 file with the back-up ?

Thanks again for the help / advice,

Correct, but only ever restore this file on to the same version GB-PVR you copied it from.

Hi, don't know if it helps but if you know the frequencies of the channels, then this page from the Wiki may help - the section on Semi-automatically specifying frequencies is the relevant bit

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...gAssistant

While it's not strictly a backup, I've used this several times to set up (restore) frequencies and channels in GBPVR after a reinstall, rather than having to re-scan.

The OP has a digital tuner, tuningassist, AFAIK is just for analogue tuners.

Many thanks for all the help, I`ll save the gbpvr.db3 file with a note to the version number, and at least it gives me a chance not to have to go through the rigmorole again.

Cheers,
