Okay, I must have missed that feature! I didn't realise there was a direct recording vs WinTVCap... not much of a beta tester!

I've switched to direct recording, but I get static on the channels even though the OSD says it is the correct channel.

Cheers,
Andy

Hey Sub,

That last file sorted the problem. Live TV works with all the codecs now on VMR9. Looks pretty cool. The only problem i have come across which I think Andy already mentioned is if I press the up arrow in live TV then it hangs the computer.

This was using wintvcap, i'll try the internal reader now,

Cheers,

Andy, how do you normally tune in you channels? Do you connect through svideo/composite to an external box, or do you use the onboard tuner connected an arial?

If you're using the internal tuner, you'll need to edit the "source channel" numbers listed in the capture source's configuration to match their Microsoft channel numbers.

As an example TV1 here in NZ, which is normally tuned into channel 1 on TVs, but it has been allocated channel (band) number of 3 in the New Zealand broadcast frequencies. Its all very complex.

There is a utility that will copy the Hauppauge WinTV channels, to the Microsoft settings for your country. This can be found at http://www.prize.nl/software/freqcopy/. The software from this site also contains links to futher information about it.

I normally connect through an aerial using the UHF tuner on the card - I have the channels set up for the five terrestrial channels in the UK (BBC1 - ch39, BBC2 - ch45, ITV1 - ch42, C4 - ch66, five - ch35). The settings work on WinTVCap live tv, WinTV2000, and WinTVCap recording. I'll have a go at freqcopy and see what that does.

Cheers,
Andy

Those entries didn't exist in my registry (the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS0-0] section)

I've added them using freqcopy for country 44 (UK) and for country 0, but it still doesn't work... there may be a problem, as it puts just 0's in, not the frequencies from the hauppauge section.

Cheers,
Andy

I've added an option to set the country code for the tuner in the next release. This should correct this problem.

Greetings-

I have managed to get the beta installed but so far I can't get live tv or a video to play.

There are some things I don't understand yet about LiveTV config and playing a video seems a lot easier so I started there.

I can get the overlay on tv-out which was a very cool thing to see in and of itself.

However no video. Locally I get the 'playing video to tv out' message and if I hit home I get the menus back locally and to tv-out. So basically it thinks its playing, it just isn't.

BTW, my first impression is that this application has tremendous potential.

peace...

It took me awhile to figure out what an xmltv file was but I got that working but still no Livetv.

My firewall shows a port trying to be opened and it fails right there. A live tv file is not created. I also killed the firewall but that didn't help. The error is

-No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

I cannot seem to find how to attach a file so I will just email you the error log.

peace...

It should be trying to connect to the Recording Service running on the local machine. If you havn't tried rebooting since you installed, it might be worth giving that a go. Sometimes the service doesn't seem to get correctly started by the installation program.

Hector's problem with video not showing was because he was in the USA with an NTSC playback. Moving to v0.0.6 and changing the OSD sizes in the config.xml corrected the problem for him.

I've added code to the next release to automatically detects the video standard and adjusts the OSD size as required.
