Hauppauge 250 card not working

I have been trying on and off to get a Hauppauge MCE 250 capture card to work. Just upgraded to the new version of GBPVR software. When I run the tuning assistant, no channels are found, all snow. I believe I have everything configured right. The EPG works fine and am using the Zap2it EPG source. Have recording source set to Direct Recording Plugin. Have Cyberlink Video SP Decoder configured.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure your antenna/cable is ok?

I believe my antenni is OK. It is a little different, however. I have digital cable in the US from a small, local provider. The have a fiber to the home solution for my internet, phone and television.

I'm running my TV off the cable box which is an Amino 120 residential digital/Hi-Definition converter. Not all my channels are Hi-Def, only a handful, but this box carries the signal. My other channels are standard digital cable.

I'm running RG6 coax to my Hauppauge card from the cable box.

One quick theory is that GBPVR seems to only support the 350 for hardware encoding video. My other choices in the configuration are software encoding options.

the 250 has a hardware Encoder, not a hardware 'De-coder' but that's fine..
[the 350 is the only card i know of with a hw Decoder,but tons have hw Encoders]
but make sure to plug the cable into the correct rf input, don't those have an fm ant. connector as well? [right next to the tv coax in]

also check to see if the wintv software works to tune it...

So you are using an STB? Then you need to have the STB turned on and scan the channels. You will probably only find channel 3 or 4. You use the STB to change the channels, not the Haup card. You can manually set up ch 3 or 4 for this purpose. If you have the cable coming out of the STB into the card you will not find all the channels and if the STB isn't turned on you won't even find the STB's output channel (3 or 4).
