I've used many virus programs in my life and have so many computers between home and office, I still use 4 different types but recently at home, switched to Kaspersky because I got a good deal and they've gotten good press (and, someway, somehow, AVG let some nasties into my system and I had to reformat). However, today, it screamed at me that GVPVR recording service was a virus and at first I quarantined it but of course, that won't let GBPVR do it's work so I unquarantined it.
So the question is, has anyone had a virus scan mark this file as a problem? I know it's a good file and have used GVBPVR almost since it's inception and never once worried about it (and still don't). Just curious why this proggie would flag that file.

I've used KAV since version 3 or 4 and have never had a problem with GBPVR. Is it possible it is complaining because it wants to open sockets? I just updated to the latest def's and no problem

I installed ClamWin on the 'test' pc yesterday and it picked up all my zipped archives of the devnz folder and declared them infected with spyware.

googled the reference it gave and it was refering to some stuff that gets installed with Daemon Tools if you dont untick the options during Daemon Tools install procedure. so im assuming that the reference to deamon tools in config.xml is whats throwing up the sirens.

probably unconnected but thought id mention it Rolleyes

I had AVG pop up with a daemon tools warning as well. I found a web site that you can uplaod a file to and it scans it with multiple scanners and I decied it was an AVG false alarm. the AVG forum even suggests trying this online scanner if you get an unexpected alarm.

I think these virus and spyware programs are getting very picky trying to keep up with the bad guys. Good judgement goes a long way!
