I don’t know although I suspect that this is related to installed SP2 for Windows XP (Home Edition). Now almost every time I start the Media MVP it gets stuck on the blue boot screen and the message on the bottom cycles between “Contacting DHCP server” and “Contacting MediaMVP BootServer”

The GB-PVR log file says this:

1/5/2004 6:58:19 PM.015 INFO [38] BOOTPWorkerThread IP Address 192.168.0.4
11/5/2004 6:58:19 PM.015 INFO [34] MVP Control thread Listening on port: 5906

11/5/2004 6:58:19 PM.515 VERBOSE [35] MVP Streaming thread waiting for connection
11/5/2004 6:58:56 PM.359 VERBOSE [38] Received BOOTP request from client. bytesReceived: 300 address: 192.168.0.2
11/5/2004 6:58:56 PM.359 VERBOSE [38] Responsed to BOOTP request from client

Any ideas?

Thanks

My guess would be that it's the XP firewall. You can setup exceptions for those ports.

I downloaded the latest beta from hauppauge's web site (which claims to auotmaitcally setup the firewall exceptions) and it still doesn't work. I've checked and the excepions are listed in the firewall. The stock hauppauge apps aren't working either. The odd think is it has worked once or twice, but hasn't worked every other time. Now when I power cycle the MVP ity gets stuck in this spot.

Port 2049 is also listed for the MediaMVP GUI Server (MVPMedia.exe); is that port open too?

You could also set it up to allow any connection on your subnet, so anything on 192.168.0.0 would connect & communicate without firewall issues (in theory [Image: smile.gif] ) Check the Microsoft TechNet to see some info.

Have you tried disabling the XP firewall? If everything works, then you know its a firewall rules problem.
