Hi folks,

Quite a simple query, hopefully a simple solution!

My PVR machine has a Nova-T 500 card installed. Has no problems recording two programs at once, but doesn't seem to be able to deal well with pre and post padding - set up as 1 minute and 6 minutes respectively.

Tonight, the end of a recording was missed in order to start recording on a different channel immediately after it. Should it not be the case that one tuner is assigned to each recording in this instance, allowing the first to complete the post-padding? If not, is there any way to ensure this?

Can provide logs if needed, cheers

For a variety of reasons it tries to pack recordings into the least number of tuners possible, with padding considered optional.

To get the behaviour more like you expect, try setting the following in config.xml:

<PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>true</PreferAlternatingCaptureSources>

Have you thought of putting this in the Config app with a blurb?? I have four tuners specifically to be able to cope with having buffers on all recordings and after a reload it took me a while to find a post to remind me how to do this? Others may well want this without even realising they have a problem.

Just a thought.

No, I didnt want to put it in the config app because it can cause conflicts for some two tuner users. I have an alternative mechanism I'd prefer user to use (<TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible> in config.xml), but there is a bug that needs to be fixed with that before it'll work properly.

The setting has no effect on single tuner users.
