Update..

Removed v1.0.16
Restarted
Removed Directory
Restarted
Installed v1.0.8
Same problem, however this time no webadmin at all (no login box) and GBPVRRecordingS sitting at 100% CPU striaght away (at least its consistant).
Run a repair of .NET v2
Restarted
NO FIX.

Found though there was NO oconfig-web.xml file. Manually copied this into the Directory, this allowed me to get a login box.

So this shows something is deleting the config-web.xml file, once this is gone Webadmin will no longer work, will test in a moment (i hope) if i copy a new derault one if this fixes it, which i think it does from other testing on the liver server, however this does not explain WHY it gets deleted when you change it to Text and Channel icons, so its the same problem.

However you CAN change the theme and this stays, you can alter the auto login ip addresses and this is ok, it seems to be the channel icons in v1.x and above...
Many Thanks
Ashley

UPDATE 2

Removed v1.0.8
Terminated the tray icon
Removed the gbpvr folder.
Restarted
Installed v1.0.16
Opened config, disabled webadmin, closed.
Opened config, enabled webadmin, closed
At this point there was still no config-web.xml file (when does this get created?)
Opened webpage, appeared with NEW blue theme so this logfile has been cached somewhere.
Checked, config-web.xml has now been created
Logged in, checked config page, settings are as i left them, WITH Channel Icons and text, however on this install i have no EPG so it never crashed.

From what i see here, it looks like what ever the Channel icons selection does is whats crashing the webadmin, also where ever the config-web.xml system is cached it remains cached.

Looks to be like a .net issue somewhere with data pulling over the channel icons, with this option still selected but NO EPG i can then view the guide page however i have no listings so it never crashes....

I use XMLTV gui version, would you like to send over ANOTHER XML TV guide so i can test that to see if thats a problem, HOWEVER even with this file the TV guide INSIDE GBPVR works fine with icons.....

Also what size of icons, at least this gives a base for more testing to work out WHY its going wrong.

Ive enclosed the xml channel guide i was using.... I will add the guide works FINE with this fine in webadmin as long as you dont select the channel icons, even though these same icons work inside the guide in GBPVR (on MVP as thats what i use).

Also this very same files works fine in v0.99.5 with no problems in webadmin or GBPVR.

WHEN i work out how to attach this file i will do it
Many Thanks
Ashley

Config-web.xml file will get created the first time the web admin starts up.

It is really strange that you are seeing this difference between the two versions....nothing has changed between those version that would cause this to occur and since it isn't wide spread it must be something with your configuration or a file or something causing this to occur on two of your machines.

I am going to set you up an FTP account on my server and send you your login info via PM. I want you to tip up your whole gbpvr directory and sub directories and ftp the zip to me......this will allow me to run what you have installed on my machine and will let me determine very quickly if this is a software, hardware, configuration or environment issue that you are having.

Fear not.....we will figure this out.... Big Grin

ta.. and done...

does the file get created WHEN the service starts or when you actually call a page (what ever the page is) what i found is the file did NOT start changing the config to allow web access it was only created AFTER i actually called the defualt page after the service was restarted so it was not created when the service started, if i never called a webpage it wasnt created.

I am more concered its happening on 2 machines and the fact i can replicate the issue so easy from machine to machine. Its runs like a solid bullet on v0.99.5, i am trying to find v0.99.12 as well to see how that works.

I will add there is a major difference, sub needs the C++ distribution installed with the new v1.x..

If you dont ask for channel icons, everything else seems to work, i logged a recording no problems, however there MIGHT be another problem, i ve not fully checked, when i did a search for "stargate" with no icons, it did not pull up any restuls, doing this same search in v0.99.5 pulled up all results i thought there should be.

My feeling here is theres some problem with the interaction on the guide setup (being a XML file format which is fine as long as i know so i can change it, however this file does work in v1.0.16 on the MVP its only the ewa that creates the problem.
Many Thanks
Ashley

UPDATE

IDENTICAL issue with v0.99.12, which interestingly uses the same build system as v1.0.16 ewa system, so looks like thats ruled out the C++ runtime issue... something changed in the back thats doing it in...
Many Thanks

Mystery solved....it is a bug that has been in EWA since the inception of using icons in the guide.

You have a channel named Teachers' TV (satellite/cable/DSL)....the coding in the channel icon lookup could handle one / but if there are two or more in the name an infinate loop occured.

I posted to the two files (guide.aspx.cs and guide2.aspx.cs) in the FTP directory I created for you....the fix will be in the next build (67) of EWA.

Do the following (you can try it on your laptop first to check it out but it does work on mine with the fix).
  • Stop your gbpvrrecordingservice.
  • Follow the instructions on the wiki for updating ewa and update your install with build 66.
  • Then copy the two files from the FTP site into your gbpvr\web directory which will overlay the ones that ship in build 66
  • Start the gbpvrrecording service
You should be good to go.

Let me know.

there where 3 files in the FTP (copied all 3).

it was a new install on the laptop (from no install before as totally removed).

Installed C++ 2005
Restart
Installed v1.0.16
Setup with 2 MVP, 150MCE and XML channel data, tuned on ewa, standard port.
Stopped service
Copied EWA b66 as per wiki, copied 3 new file from FTP
Started service
Update EPG
Opened desktop PVRX2, tested tv guide as working fine.
Opened webpage (http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/)
In to config, removed auto login addresses.
Closed webpage.
Open new webpage (http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/)
In to config, changed to text and channel icons, checked to make sure blue theme checked
Went out to get drink and eat ready for a crash or work situation in the lounge on the laptop
Opened guide on left tab........

WORKED Big Grin

I see the channel you was on about, glad to see thats now fixed, interesting how no one else had this problem (no duplicate TV guide entries then)....

I will be updating the live version on the server later tonight (will update here as well as thats on v0.99.5 at the moment) so will do that by the book and post here the results.

This is the ONLY reason i have not left GBPVR, faults are found and willing to be tested to death then will be fixed....
Many Thanks
Ashley

Just installed to the live server, all is working..... the Firefox and IE login issue seems resolved as well (looks like a server not repsonding type thing).

However the install still didnt go as planned, would have lost all data (if i had any), not quiet sure why on that.

Installed 2005 C++
Reboot
Stopped service and terminated Tray Icon
Installed v1.0.16 over v0.99.5 (however i notice the installer did not find the orginal install location, went to default).

The install failed from here (rolled back), did a complete uninstall (well did that itself) removed all directories then restarted and new install, now working.

Looks like upgrade from v0.99.5 isnt so smooth... hope future upgrades are much easier.

Thanks for the work, much less stressed now Big Grin

P.S. That said ive not actually RECORDED anything on the new install as yet, never got that far Smile
Many Thanks
Ashley
