I have been running GBPVR for several years now on a Hauppauge 500 Card and it works wonderfully with that capture sources 1 and 2 for the tuners for the card. I can not recommend the program enough to my friends. I recently purchased a hauppuage 1800 card since I wanted to add another tuner and try also to see about some over the air digital broadcasts in my area. I unfortunately have ran into problems. No matter how I install the card in combination with my 500 card it does not like capture device 3 ro above. If I install either card to use Capture device 3 or above it says:The drivers for the device you have configured do not seem to be installed. Do you want to save these current settings. This happens if I use any device on other than capture device 1 or 2. Is there some other setting or limitation I am not aware of? I am using windows XP Pro. Is there some setting in it that might be wrong or a limitation I am unaware of with it. All devices look to be installed correctly and functioning fine. I just don't know anything else to do so I am putting this out in the community and maybe someone has had the same problem or a similar one and knows the answer. thank you all for your assistance.

If I understand correctly, you have a dual tuner 500 and are adding a single tuner 1800...

Both tuners on the 500 should use the same device number (see this thread) which would make the 1800 device number 2.

the 500 is a dual tuner card and previously I had it set up with each tuner as a seperate capture source. the 1800 is a combination card with 2 tuners also an analog tuner and an atsc/QAM tuner.

That is correct, they should be set up as seperate capture sources, but they use the same Device#. This post shows a good graphic of the config set up for a 500 DT card.

I don't have first hand experience of hybrid cards, but I believe that your 1800 should also be set up with two capture sources sharing Device#2.

In summary, in the device configuration dialog box, the Device Number refers to the physical card (of which you have two) and the Device Type refers to each tuner on the card you are configuring.

Unfortunately that graphic didn't help since all of the cards are using the direct record plugin for analog recording not the DBA recording plugin. I have tried to set them up in various ways but whenever anything uses capture device 3 or above I get that error. I simply don''t understand it. I didn't expect to have any difficulty with the analog part of the tuner. But if I use capture device #3 or 4 or 5 or up It doesn't work. It is like there is a limiting entry somewhere keeping it at just 2. But I don't know where such a setting would be or if it would be in windows or in GBPVR

You PVR500 should have two capture source, both the direct recording plugin, one set as device#1, the other as device #2.

The HVR1800 should have two capture sources, one direct recording plugin set as device #1, the other using BDA recording plugin set as device #1.

Thanks Sub I tried that and the analog works fine now I am still working on getting the bda recording part to work right but also waiting for the next update as that I believe has the QAM part fixed in it from what I have been reading exhaustively tonight. Thank you to everyone who helped. And as always Thank you Sub for your help and for the great program.
