TV Resolution

I just got a HDTV tuner, and i was wondering what resolution i should be using on my lcd tv. Should i be using the 1080i equilivent or the 720p equilivent resolution for my tv? I'm just worried about clipping or blurryness when playing back the videos.

I'd try the native resolution of your LCD first, but I'd also try other resolutions to see if the TV Scaler copes better. Just go with whatever looks best to your eyes.

Ok, I'll just try out the two different resolutions. The lcd doesn't have one built in default rez, it is a LCD TV with 1080i and 720p support. So, it has a rez for 1080 and one for 720, i just wasnt sure if watching the 1080i video on a 720 rez would be out of focus or blurred.

your lcd probably has a native res (meaning the actual physical number of LCD pixels that make up the display panel) of 1366x768 there are some tvs out there that actual do have other resolutions. If you post the TV model and brand I can find out for you. as far as the video resolution, the computer will scale the video to fit the out put you have your video card set to. That all being said the way you hook up to your tv can have an effect as well, can you post how you are hooking up?
But sub is correct some times the scalar in the tv likes a particular res better than others if your not using vga.
I have mine hooked up though vga and use 1366x768 and 720p and 1080i all playback at full screen

I'm using DVI on a Samsung LN-S1952W. The rez that fills up the monitor completly is 1152x684 for 720p, and 1728x1024 for 1080i. I have tried using a VGA cable, but the colors are all screwed up(Yes i have tried multiple crt cables).

It turns out you have a native res of 1440x900 (it seems that some of the sub 20inch lcds are using this now) but if your using dvi I would say just use the res that looks the best. The only thing i can suggest for your vga trouble if you even care at this point is to check color setting in your video cards config and on the tv it self. (it might be the color temperature control)

As a side note when I installed the ati drivers on my desktop vista machine for my x1300 the color became really muted blacks looked grayish, and I had to adjust the black and white levels to a different setting. I dont know of this applies to nvidia or not but thought I would throw it out there.
