I know back at release 1.0xxx that the GUI native resolution was increased from 720x480 or something like that, but what is it now? Is it fully scalable?

I seem to get a clearer menu image, and text at 1368x7?? than 1920x1080, which could be a lot of things so I thought I should start at the start of the process.
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.

Display: 42" 1920x1080p Panasonic Plasma

From 1.x the GUI is rendered to the native resolution of the users desktop. The higher the resolution you run, the sharper things should be.

The only exception is the TV Guide screen when you have <TVGuideFastRendering> set to 'true', in which case it uses a slightly lower resolution on that screen to keep the speed up.

It's possible that the image is being scaled at 1920x1080. What's the native rez of your display?

It's complex because the native resolution of the plasma (42" panasonic) is 1920x1080p but the PC input only allows 1366x768 (analogue) then the panel presumaby scales up.

I did try a DVI to HDMI adapter cable with the resolution set at 1920x1080 @60Hz but that is when it started to look a bit fuzzy. The text just didn't seem as sharp as the scaled up lower resolution. I would have expected keeping everything native would be a clear as you can get.

I am a bit light on graphics with a 6600GT, but I would still expect it to display a clear static image at that resolution.

It just seems a shame to have all thoes extra dots and not use them.Wink

I suspect this is more of a tv or video card thing, rather than GB-PVR generating a fuzzy picture. You should be able to test that fairly easily though by taking a screenshot and saving it off to a file, then viewing it on your PC.
