First time GBPVR user. Just installed v1.1.5. Subscribed to CTtv. Got EPG downloaded and working. Problem: no video! just a black screen with program info at the bottom. I can change the channel, and the audio would change to the new channel, but still no picture. I can see the picture just fine in tuning assistant.

I am guessing this a playback codec issue. But my system already has Cyberlink Power DVD previously installed. And PowerDVD is working normally. (Muxchecker says there is no multiplexer installed).

I tried setting different rederer (there are 3 choices: VMR9 custom,VMR9 full screen and EVR), I also tried different video decoders (also 3 choices: system default, Nero, and MPEG decoder). None of it made any difference. Please help a newbie!!!

sounds like you dont have a decoder installed - try installing the mpv and mpa decoders for video / audio - search the forums or google for the download location.

cheers

Skippy:

Thanks for your reply. I installed MPV decoder free codec and the picture showed up. But strange problem now started. The audio will work for a few seconds, then goes silent. Now I can see picture, but no audio! I restart GBPVR, audio will come back for a few seconds, then disappear again! Please help!

you could try installing another audio decoder - its just a case of trying different ones to see what works best on your system. for example on my server i find that using the mpv decoder for video and i the intervideo decoder for audio etc but on my client i find that the mpv works for video and mpa works for audio

Thanks again, Skippy. I kept trying different audio codecs until finally I got audio back. Horray!!!!. Now just one more thing. The video seemed choppy. As I stated earlier, Muxchecker says there is no multiplexer installed, even though Cyberlink Power DVD is installed and working normally. Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

im not sure about the multiplexer thing but if you are just recording analog its not an issue (at least i dont have one installed and i record from 2 analog cards)

as for the choppy video - try updating your video card drivers to the latest and greatest - also try playing the same video from within mediaplayer as thats another directshow app.

Thanks everyone for your help. Finally solved the issue. I noticed installing the MPV decoder screwed up Cyberlink PowerDVD. So, I uninstalled the decoder and PowerDVD, then re-installed PowerDVD. That seemed to work for me. I wonder why it didn't work in the first place, as PowereDVD was already installed.
