I take a chance that some one here recognize my problem and can come with a tip to point in the right direction.

I have a HTPC connected to a LCD TV. A couple of days ago I installed a new graphic card with Radeon HD 3450.
After a series of reinstallations and registry cleaning I finally got everything working.

Well nearly everything anyway
This computer is always on, When we want to use it, we switch the TV to HDMI (dvi<>hdmi) as input and use the remote to control the comp and GBPVR.

But the problem now is that the graphic card puts itself in some hibernation mode when our TV is set on something other than HDMI.
The trouble is that I can not wake it. When I select hdmi, I only get a black screen. The computer is working (I accidentally started playing a movie yesterday when I tried to wake it, but all I got was sound) but no picture.
I have turned of screensavers and energy saving modes.

What I can do is to use the power button on comp or remote to set the computer in hibernation and then wake it from that again.

Does anybody have any ideas how to get rid of this "feature"? Or how to wake the graphic from it's coma...

I don't know the fix, but I browsed upon mentions of problems with "HDMI authentication" or "reauthentication" that sounds like what's going on with yours. Searching around for that might bring something up. You're definitely not the only one having that problem with that card, not that that's much comfort, I bet.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

I have a Sapphire HD3650 connect to an lcd with a dvi to hdmi cable that is causing the same problem. The only way I have been able to get it to re authenticate is by restarting the computer, or vnc into the computer (this is my usual method). My extensive reading of forums on this one suggests the cause is a combination of video card and drivers. No magic fixes yet, though some report that unplugging the hdmi cable and plugging it back in works (didn't seem to work for me last nigh though). Here is one of the threads at avs forum that has quite abit of discussion on this issue buried in it:

Last night, I actually tried a setting I found; "Force HDMI Authentication".
Great success - Blue screen of death (the other problem I have every second time I try to clean out old and reinstall another driver).

I'll try to unplug the hdmi and see what that'll do.

I asked this same question to company where I bought the card. They that the reason probably is that my Barebone don't like this card and that I should take another card instead (Geforce 8600GT).
I'll keep at it for a couple of more days before I go with that solution.

7ore,

Where did you find this setting?

Well, I remembered wrong. The setting is in Catalyst center on the Display Option page. And it is called "Force TV detection". Not what I wrote.
I reinstalled the driver once more tonight. And for the first time I can reach the HTPC via VNC after it's been idle in 30 minutes.
But I still cant get the TV to be authenticated.

I asked the support in the shop where I bought the card and they said that my card probably have compatibility problem with my Asus T2 and suggested that I return it and buy a Geforce 8600GT instead.

I think I will do that...

I just add this bit of info to others that might experience this same problem:
I just got an answer from ATI. They say that it do not work with a dvi<>hdmi cable, that I have.
A dvi<>hdmi adapter connected to the graphic card is necessary.
This didn't help in my case.
But an update to the newest 8.3 driver did!!
