tvshowman Wrote:well after all that messing around I tried the movies in PVRX2 and they won't play!! You're still using Start! See, Mencoder is not receiving the full syntax for you command line, because Start isn't passing it correctly. Also, as sub would say, if you can see the avi in wmp then it should play in pvrx2, assuming that wmp and pvrx2 are using the same codecs. Have you looked at ZProcess. It will handle your long file names and make sure MEncoder is running at low priority.. Once ZProcess is configured, all you would do is use this syntax: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...cess#toc13 Code: cd "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\ZTools" This never was a GBPVR support issue, so if you were going to go the easy route, start a thread in my sub forum

I was looking at zprocess but thought it was for mvp or something
you are right that the files shod play in pvrx2 if they play in windows media player but they don'e.. I will remove the START /w and see if I can encode a 10meg file and play it. I am hoping I can make the mecoder command line work in the auto transcode of pvrx2 but I am at the early stages I was mucking around woth your batch files last night http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/Post3 and that is how I got to putting up the command line a I wanted something that encodes faster. I got depressed when I got saites script working and it was encoding at 3 fps... the one I use gives me 68 - 80fps I would be happy even wih real time emcoding as long as the quality wa ok i am playing with your fast hq settings in the reprocess.bat breaks almost over 7 more hours of work wish I knew why the encoded file won't play in pvrx2 makes no sense it is divx I will definatly look into the zprocess later tonight now that I know what it's for cheers

I dont have mencoder here, or the time to fiddle around with it, but if you download and run GraphEdit, then select the 'render media file' menu option, what happens? GB-PVR does effectively the same steps.

Quote:there is "avi splitter" ffdshow video decoder" "directvobsub(auto-loading version)"vmr inout0and when you hit the 'play' button, did it play? This 'render media file' function should do the same thing as you'd get in GB-PVR.

ok i just tried that and it plays instantly.
could ffdshow be the problem? whats the name of that program that tells bitrate and codec of a file? i removed the dvobsub already so lost now

Quote:could ffdshow be the problem?Yes. New builds of ffdshow comes preconfigured to only work with some applications, including GraphEdit and WMP. You probably need to view the properties of the ffdshow filter and add PVRX2.exe to the list of apps.

Solved the problem!
believe it or not... it's an fmv4 codec that is needed and specif for ffdshow. I installed ffdshow and turned off full screen exclusive so I could get access to a popup menu that appears asking for ffdshow access. so I selected always and don't ask me again and it plays great now. and 'm off work now haha I have no idea why using my command line argumuments resulted in ffdshow codecs but the results are ok and it encodes files around 69 fps. neat trick thanks for your help sub and zhed! I learned alot staying up 28 hours lol use gspot if you ever have a video that won't play because you don't have the codec http://www.downloadsquad.com/2006/09/06/...ec-finder/ it will tell you what it is so you can find it ![]()

just to clarify the problem with the files playing in windows and not in pvrx2...
FFDshow when installed brings up a window to confirm its use of codec in unknown programs. When I selected my file to play for the first time in PVRX2 using full screen exclusive setting. FFDshow actually presented a popup dialogue that is fullscreen and invisible to PVRX2 in FSE. All you can see is a black screen . I solved this problem by using PVRX2 in windowed mode and played the file and select yes to the popup prompt and selected don't bug me again and the files played fine with no prompt after that in FSE... What a time I had a year ago figuring this chit out haha... and I have been using the codec for a whole year now...
