ok i removed "-ab 128" from the command line and now the audio plays on both the PC and the MVP... strange that ffmpeg cant transcode the audio properly. any ideas why?...

now Gspot tells me the audio is "MPEG-1 Layer 2, 0xc0:48000Hz 64 kb/s tot , Stereo"... not a biggie since it goes to an old TV anyway.

thanks for helping!

Sorry I always forget that I am in the minority regarding digital broadcast in transport stream.

The AVI you show playing isn't a digital broadcast and it would have used ffmpeg anyway so that is actually a different situation. Because of the various transcodes and various formats in the avi container ffmpeg might not handle them all the same, and the version that comes with gbpvr is nice and stable but older.

If you are going to be using mainly digital mpg muxed captures I'd suggest optimizing those.

What type of video file are you trying to play?

Set <MvpTranscodeAllVideo> back to 'false', then try playing a .mpg file, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I'm getting a blank screen and no sound as well. As suggested, I've copied theMVPFFmpegTranscodeCmdLineNTSC to MVPFFmpegTranscodeTS. If I'm reading this right, resolution is set for 352X240. I've also set MvpTranscodeAllVideo to true. The DviX files that played on the MPV software, won't work with the GB-PVR. I've also tried a couple of mpgs, but still nothing.

I'm a real novice and can follow instructions, but I need things dumbed down so I can understand what I am doing. Any help will be appreciated. Which log files do I need to look at or have someone knowledeable look at. I see that PVRX2.exe-native.log, MVP-PVRX2.exe-1.log, and MVP-PVRX2.exe.log have the most recent times stamp on them. Are these the ones that need to be interpreted? Thanks in advance.

When in doubt compress and upload all your logs. If you can't play normal mpg files, the problem is more likely with the firewall, the logs will show this.

I'll check the firewall and make sure that PVRX2 has access. Thanks very much for the help.

What a great call! That was it. This GUI is much better than what comes with the MVP. Now, I have a couple more questions. Some of the videos are in letterbox format. What do I need to change in the config file such that they don't fill the entire screen on my TV? I've also read that you can tweek the brightness. How do I do that?

It looks like a firewall problem. You need to allow PVRx2.exe to have TCP and UDP connections. The easiest way to do this is to let Windows set it for you
copy and paste this entire line into your Start->Run window

"C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR\PVRX2.exe" -mvpmode

A little black window should open and a prompt should come up asking you to allow it through the firewall.

That was it. It looks like I was fiddling with this while you were reading my log files. I edited my post after you posted. Could you please take a look at my other two questions? I think I'm really close to getting this thing working well. Many thanks for the help.
