I am also having trouble with changing channels. Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it drops me back to the main menu.

I have tried various dongles, with a combination of mux's but cannot get a combination that works.

Yes, those messages are all fairly normal.

Reproduce the dropping back to the menu problem, and post the logs and I'll take a look.

I did not get the jump back to mainmenu, but there was a MVP lockup on channel change around 18:04. I also had the live TV start to stutter and drop out after 20 minutes of live tv (18:22 or thereabouts). Other mux's were going out of sync after about the same time. I had to turn MVP off and back on to get control at 18:22. This sounds like it may be a dongle problem, but maybe you can shed some more light on it or come up with some suggestions.

I have the config "send channel change twice" setting set to true.
Running on a P4 2.8Ghz with 2 Mb RAM through a 10/100 network to MVP running latest mvpmc dongle. Tuner is USB DVB stick (MegaSky 580).

I have tried channel changes with channel numbers on remote and onscreen guide selection. Although it did not jump me back to menu, it usually does, and before I changed config for double channel change requests, it would most often show frozen video from from the channel I was leaving and audio from the selected channel.

Playback of recording is no problems. Audio in sync, comskip works (it's running during record) and no freezes on 1 hour + recordings.

Thanks for your time looking at the logs. Hope the joombla hack problem didn't cause too many problems!

Although probably not for the same reason, I did happen to see some instances of the act of changing channels sending me back to the main menu.

It turned out to be the case that the channel I was switching to was misconfigured (the "Tuning Request" string was misformatted) causing an exception to be raised. When caught, it kicked gbpvr out of live tv mode.

Perhaps whether it does that or gets ignored could be configurable, perhaps (conditionalized on the log level) dependent upon whether a power user is debugging, or an end-user (not understanding why he is being kicked out) would prefer for it to be ignored until he can get some help for "the channel that doesn't work"

While the exception handling being done in such an instance can be valuable as an aid in problem solving, the unexpected change of state may be misconstrued as a lack of robustness by the non-engineer. Telling him it's designed that way may at best be confusing to him.

Of course this is just my opinion, and I might not be giving the average non-technical user enough credit....
