Im having trouble finding articles in this forum because there are so many. Maybe its an idea to archive the forum. There are articles that are as old as 2003 in this forum. Its hard to find the right articles.

Take for instance the wishlist part of the forum. Maybe its an idea to make different subjects each time there is a new release.
Or if you search for EPG and channels and such there are allot of posts. Sometimes theye run for long time. Maybe its time to make from those long posts a summary and (re)move the post. Call it best practices.

If help is needed to organise the forum then im willing to help.

On the advanced search page you can chose to ignore any posts before a certain date. See " Find Posts from" section.

Ill give that a try, but that doesnt mean that there isnt allot information in posts that go to waste because people dont click the right post. And the number of posts is overwelming. Wich is good in one way Big Grin but bad in the sense of processing the information

I tend to use google to search if my criteria are too much for vbulletin.

Although now you mentions it I'd like to see a new subsection:-
wishlist - done and included. Where wishlist items could be moved if incorporated.

I tend to use google myself too. I find the search function on the Forum very vague, and very tedious.

Google seems to pick up the pages I need most of the time but I believe some of us are waiting for a more precise Wiki....?

Is it possible to start another chapter.
Where people can place home written manuals.
So we can distill the good information into manuals?

Then we can say RTFM Big Grin

A few examples as manual:
1. Codecs witch codecs are the best and where do you get them and how do you install them and tweak them?
2. General installation of GB-PVR with or without MVP.
3. Howto setup EPG, there are more then one methods for getting that done, but witch is best?
4. Etc.

People can make them and other people can make suggestions to them.

This is what the wiki is meant for. Be reminded that if the community is not capable to maintain the wiki properly, it won't be able to maintain some other sort of documentation. Documentation takes a lot of effort. It makes the difference if a software is a Product, or just software.
Zehd has spent quite a bit of time improving the manuals. This should be a good start for new users. There is a link at the top of that page, to submit suggestions for improvement. Discussions here on the forum, summarisations of state of the art on the wiki.
The discussion imho should be continued there.
Pieter

PS: I should credit all members that continuously take the effort of documenting

I think it would be helpful if we all added the version of whatever SW we are writing about. Then we could search on specific versions and the age of the article wouldn't matter as much.
