I'm a little new to GBPVR. I recently purchased the new Hauppauge remote for the PVR-250 and I am having tons of trouble with it. With the win-tv irremote.ini file in place it does control the WinTV app. When I put the gbpvr irremote.ini file in place, nothing happens at all.

I only want the remote to work with gbpvr. I am unsure of the following:

1-Does the ir.exe need to be running? (I've tried it running and not)
2-If I want to use the remote strictly with gbpvr do I need to select "Use Direct Access to Hauppauge Remote" in gbpvr config ?(I've tried it with and without)

I have tried everything I can think of to get this to work without success. Right now I am remotely controlling gbpvr with a usb game controller sending keystrokes. It works ok but it's not wireless and it just doesn't seem right to control this great program with a game controller.

BTW, my system is headless (except for the keyboard), and is old but it runs this app very well (except for the remote!Wink. PII 350 mhz, 384 mb ram. PVR-250 for capture and Xcard for playback.

While I'm at it, I have a few other questions:

3-Does the wintv2000 app have to be installed to run gbpvr?
4-How about the xcard app (xmedia player?)?

Thanks

I dont think the new 45 button remote will work with direct access, so you'll need to be running ir.exe (with direct access disable in Config app).

You should be using the irremote.ini file that was installed with the Hauppauge IR application, but add in the GB-PVR settings as described here: http://www.bladerhq.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...rremoteini

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have in place an irremote.ini file that is the default hauppauge file with the gbpvr info added at the end. I hope that it doesn't matter where in the file the gbpvr info goes. I unchecked "Use direct access to hauppauge Remote" in the config. I restarted the machine but it still won't control the gbpvr.

I read on another thread where someone was having some difficulty with the 34 button remote. It somewhat worked for him but some buttons behaved strangely. He uninstalled then re-installed everything and it worked ok. I really don't want to have to uninstall/re-install but if I do decide to do so, do I need to install the wintv2000 app and the sigma xplayer app?

Thanks for your help!!!

landru22,

I was having problems with my remote...
I tried running without Wintv2000, before I configured my irremote.ini file, which did not help. The reinstall took only about 15 minutes, but the real trick seemed to be with the irremote.ini file, once I edited that is when I had my break-through. I also have IR.exe running, with USB-UIRT selected as the channel changer and then Hauppauge remote seleted in the GB-PVR config. I am using a 34 button remote with a PVR350.

Hope that helps,

Erik,

Would it be possible for you to post your irremote.ini file here? I would like to compare it to mine to maybe solve my problem.

Thanks!

Adding the gbpvr info to the end of the irremote.ini file is OK (that is, the section that begins with "[GB-PVR]" - BUT - you need to be certain that the line:

GB-PVR=

is added to the **existing** [Applications] section of the irremote.ini file (which is about 1/4 of the way into the file).

I don't think that creating a *second* [Applications] section in the irremote.ini file will work.

Thank you all for your help. I finally got it working. It was mostly a matter of adding entries in the correct spot in the irremote.ini file.
