I'm in the process of building a new GBPVR machine and want to try Vista and TS multi-recording.

Installed Vista Ultimate 32bit added all latest Microsoft updates. Installed vcredist from this site and applied "survival" patches. Installed Pinnacle 7010ix tuner and drivers (shows up as a BlackGold in config). Installed PowerCinemav5 (which came with the tuner).

Set to record TS in config and configured and scanned channels.

Recorded a programme. Tried to playback on PC. Video is fine but sound is in slow motion and deep. Tried to playback on MVP, sound is at right speed but out of sync. If I press FFW the video jumps a few seconds forward and the sound goes into sync.

If I transcode the file to mpg sound is fine.

I've seen a couple of threads regarding slow sound but they seem to refer to MPA being installed or changes to an AC3 filter. I've not got an AC3 filter installed.

Questions:-
Should I have an AC3 filter or MPA installed installed?
Is the TS file being transcoded when sent to the MVP? If so, can I disable it (how?)?
Conversley, if the TS file is not being transcoded "on the fly", can I set it to do that when being sent to the MVP?

I'm assuming the file isn't being transcoded for the MVP as the FFW doesn't work.

I've attached a log of a file playing with the slow sound.

Some people have had this problem with slow audio on the PC. Changing audio decoders is usually enough to fix it. I've put something in the next release that will hopefully fix it.

For the MVP, if you want to guarantee the sound is sync, you pretty much have to use the Cyberlink mux and record .mpg files. Otherwise the it has to try converting on the fly from .ts to a temporary .mpg file, and audio/video sync can get lost doing this.

The MVP doesnt natively do TS files. If you're running mvpmc on your MVP, it does have some support for .ts files (when <MVPTranscodeTS> is set to false in config.xml), but I'm sure it wont be what you're hoping for - it comes with a lot of limitations and problems. It shows incorrect time lines in the OSD, and cant skip etc during playback.

Thanks Sub.

When you say change Audio Decoders, is that for AC3 as there's only "Default" in that selection in config. (i.e. do I need to download one?)

The Audio Decoder has MPEG Audio decoder or Cyberlink Audio Decoder neither of which make any difference.

I meant the 'Audio Decoder' setting, not AC3 decoder.

The 'MPEG Audio decoder' isnt usable in GB-PVR currently, so both probably ended using the Cyberlink Audio Decoder. You might need to try acquiring some other audio decoders to try.
