I get a little bit of stuttering in my video playback whenever the OSD is up. I was thinking of getting a $30 video card to pair with my onboard HD3200 to try and solve this. Anyone else ever tried to run the 780g graphics in "hybrid crossfire" configuration? I'm wondering if it will actually make a difference or not.

what version catalyst are you using? in my experience 8.11 is the way to go...but it may be different on 780g as i use a regular 3450 card..
from what i remember about the archtecture, it won't add anything for video, and especially not if using xp...[iirc crossfireX only works in vista]
are you getting full accell? what mode[vmr?] are you running along with what decoder?
ffdshow works great for me even in inset box, and not a hiccup even with the guide over video....and this is w/vmr9 fse..xppro.

I'm running 8.11 CCC, Vista EVR, ATI mpeg decoder. Maybe I'm not done playing around with decoders then?

I don't expect hybrid crossfire to help with video, but I thought it might help with the minor stuttering with the OSD up since I thought the OSD used 3D acceleration?

IT WORKS.

I installed this HD3450 card and my stuttering is gone! I can now have the TV guide up on top of live tv w/o the video stuttering. Schweet.

Just be aware that it probably works simply because of the HD3450, not because of hybrid crossfire. You could probably turn off your on-board video and just use the HD3450 with the same result. Agreed though, eliminating video stuttering is Schweet in any case.

That's really odd. I have just the integrated ATI HD3200 and I never get one bit of stutter anywhere and I play H.264 and MPEG2 files (1080p H.264 too.) It could be the processor or ATI drivers maybe? Don't know..

gazoo, I was only getting stutter with the OSD on top of the video. It was weird; I'm just glad it's gone.

You know, I wonder if it was a verticle sync problem? I just set CCC to always match the refresh rate of my tv to eliminate tearing in a game. i wonder if doing that before I went hybrid would of solved the problem in GBPVR. -Just a hairbrained idea. I have know idea what I'm talking about, really.
