OK. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to look.

Now that I've put a graphics card in the server I suppose I might as well uninstall everything and start again with a monitor on the server to see if I can get everything working there starting with MCE and then GB-PVR and, if it's OK, gradually add layers like MVPs, a clientPC and VNC and so on.

I couldn't get the built-in MCE or IRServerSuite to work either. Ho-hum.
[SIZE="1"]Server: Dual-Core E2180@2GHz; 2GB ECC; onboard ES1000 graphics (but headless).
WinXP-MCE SP2; DirectX 9.0c; GB-PVR 1.4.7.
PVR-150MCE kit (1063) with USB beanbag/blaster.
External Sat. Tuner: Silvercrest SL65
Internal Sat. Tuner: VideoMate S350 DVB-S
MediaMVPs: 86002 D3A; 86002 E1; 86020 H3. All using mvpmc.
PCH A-100.

Well I started again from an MCE base and using the Hauppauge WinTV6CD - and failed.

Having already stuck a graphics card in my server I've added a monitor and have had to add sound capabilities because MCEsetup refused to show video from Composite1 until sound capabilities existed.

MCEsetup has decided it can't detect the IR hardware (regardless of which USB port I use)!

I can see in the logs that GBPVR is sending the expected hipwsend command and test-sends of IRcodes in the IR Output tab of HIP blast OK. This suggests that the hardware and drivers are OK even though I can't get HIP to act on hipwsend commands so what's going on?

I should mention that only one blaster socket has ever worked (HIP set to blast on both) so perhaps a hardware fault isn't out of the question. What device should I be specifying in HIP's Alternate Input tab?

That did it!

(and yes, I'd checked and checked again that I had definitely allowed the interaction with desktop so it wasn't just a case of side-stepping that aspect).

Thanks so much to you both. I can't say how very chuffed I am.

A bit of tidying and further testing then I'll stick the S350 in there to see what other "learning opportunities" present themselves. Thanks again.
