They have added a "conditions of use" header to their data files so that XMLTVGUI has screwed up data within its output. (and told no one about it!).

The header has also been added to the channels file - so don't do a refresh channels or you lose the lot.

This started on the 6th by the looks of my backups. Alan Birtles is tweaking it at the moment.

Hmmm - I've been running v3.11.0 for a month now and it doesn't seem to have had any problems over the past few days. I'll upgrade to 3.11.1 though just for completeness sake.

Cheers,
Brian

It only started on the 6th and unless you did a "refresh channels" (where it fails doing a grab) it isn't obvious.

I only spotted it when I did a search for 5 star films and it brought one up with the notice as a title and description!

I use the radio times thing, with XMLTVGUI, works fine.

However something i did notice was when the channels go out of date (in the XMLTV proggy) it stops downloading the data, other than this its fine.

Sometimes get a corrupt letter which screws the WHOLE listng up but thats fixable and once every 3 months or so.
Many Thanks
Ashley

I rely on XMLTVGUI also. One thing though that I wish would work is the listings for ITVHD. ITVHD appeared as a channel you can select to be included, and for a while it did work and the (few) broadcasts on this channel were listed. Now however it is always 'no show details'. I missed the Billy Connely thing tonight in HD (No excuse really, as I do buy the radio times each week!).
No show details also means that any recordings of ITV HD have to be set manually, and thus always get lumped into the manual recordings folder with no meaningfull titles etc.

Is there any benefit to using XMLTVGUI over the batch xmltv stuff (from xmlt.tv.org)? I just run a batch file each night that calls xmltv tv_grab_uk_rt with the number of days and output file. It broke on the 6th Feb, but downloaded an updated and all was well. I've not noticed if I no longer get ITV HD listings cause I cant remember the last time I was looking when something was actually on!

Dunno - I've never tried the one you mention. xmltvgui is either a gui or a command line executable and I just run it from windows scheduler.
It's handy for picking and choosing the channels you want grabbed and has a few post processors available.
Data comes from the same place, so the same errors I guess Big Grin
