Channel Changing Conundrum

I use a USB-UIRT to, in theory, change channels on a Pace cable set top box. However, this only works when using Live TV - when using scheduled recordings, nothing happens. The activity LED on the USB-UIRT flashes when Live TV requests a channel change, but nothing appears to make it to the UIRT for scheduled recordings - looking in the recording service native log, the USBUIRT fails to open.

I've searched the forums for USBUIRTHelper and there is a thread from a few years back with a similar problem. I've updated the drivers, updated the UIRT flash several times, but recording doesn't want to play ball.

Logs zipped and attached - hopefully some light can be shed on the issue.

Running version 1.3.11, on a Dell Inspiron 530S running Vista SP1, Hauppauge PVR-150LP, USB-UIRT

"allow service to interact with desktop" checked in the gb-pvr recording service settings? (start->run->services.msc)

That wasn't set, but having made the necessary change, channel changing still doesn't work for recording, giving the "Unable to open USB-UIRT" entry in the GBPVRRecordingService-native.log.

I probably should have mentioned the service proabably needed to be restarted after making the change; presumably that's why it's working now. Either way, glad you got it sorted, happy to help.

Looks like I spoke too soon - the situation is exactly the same - live TV channel changing is OK, however, recording isn't, with the unable to access USBUIRT message logged. Allow service to interact with the desktop is checked and I have also tried with a "real" administrator level account.

Is there anything else can try before I either try XP Pro, or a MCE remote/blaster combination?

Hmmmm.... It must appear that I'm talking to myself, however, I think I'm getting to the bottom of the problems. One possibly vital piece of information omitted earlier - I am using a Hauppauge remote in conjunction with the USB-UIRT. When channel changing for scheduled recording is misbehaving, I can use the remote to control GPVR and live TV channel changing works. However, channel changing is currently working, but commands from the remote aren't being picked up, nor does Live TV change channels. The system I used previously used a UB-UIRT to change channels on a set top box and a Hauppauge IR receiver plugged into a PVR-150. The new system I'm having the fun and games with has a PVR-150-MCE-LP, which doesn't have the socket for the Hauppauge IR receiver. I have a NOVA-T-500 card to be installed when a low profile bracket arrives from Hauppauge, but I wasn't intending using the receiver on this card. This intention has now changed and hopefully all will work as expected.
