Recording Status Shows Extra Tuners

When I restart my pc, the recording status has started showing on the taskbar - it hasn't done this before. If I double click the recording status icon in the tray, it shows 'Capture Source #1' to 'Capture Source #8' which are all shown as 'Tuner1:'. I only have 2 Hauppauge WinTV Nova T 9000 (single DVB) tuners. Any ideas what is wrong?

The only time I see this is if the tray app cannot talk to the recording service.

Recording service not running?, .Net problem?, firewall changed (they use local networking to talk ISTR). Does closing and restarting the tray app resolve it?, is the recording service running?
