I don't have an MCE remote/receiver so I've not tried it, and I'm not in front of my home PC to check, but I'm sure it's got MCE codes. The Harmony has the most exhaustive database of IR codes I've seen and it's updated frequently. For instance, it already has the Popcorn Hour and outside of this group, that's about as uncommon a device as there is. In addition, for the devices I've checked it's full of the descrete codes too that the manufacturer-supplied remotes can't even do. And of course it's a very good learning remote too.

It's hard to go wrong with the Harmony. It works so much better than the other programmable remotes I've used, and so much easier to program than the JP1 remotes, I'm not sure how you can go wrong. After I realized I could get the refurbs so much cheaper and saw people giving them good reviews, the toughest decision for me was deciding which one I wanted since they have a bunch of options now with a variety for form factors. For me I found the 600/800 series ideal.

The other option is a Gyration remote. It is a MCE remote that can control 3 other devices and has a built in mouse that works just like the Wii controller. I also like that it is a RF remote so I can use it anywhere in the house (I have several TVs hooked up to the DVR via component distribution).

It is more expensive but the built in mouse is invaluable if you need to go native for any reason.

Update: The Harmony was indeed the winner. Worked like a champ with the weird little USB Cyberlink remote receiver I had gotten from eBay ages ago- natively. No WinLIRC, AutoHotkey, or anything else required. Sweet!
