Best way to convert to a server/client setup

I've been using GBPVR for some time now on a single pc. Now I want to move to a server/client setup. It will be a different computer running as the server and the current pc running gpbvr will be either retired alltogether, or perhaps used as a client somewhere else, like a spare bedroom. I'll need to install gbpvr on the server and transfer my recordings over to it. What is the best way of doing this so that my recordings stay in the Recordings menu? And is there any hope of retaining my current scheduled recordings? Thanks.

I should be a piece of cake (I've done this twice). BACKUP UP GBPVR.DB3 CONFIG.XML and RECORDING-DUMP.XML.? - better, make two copies of them all !!!!
The main thing is to try your best to keep the drive letters and directorys the same. If the recordings directory changes then some work is needed to update the database.

Assuming you are using the same tuners -
Install the hardware and drivers.
Copy over the recordings - preferably to same drive/directory.
Install gbpvr
stop recording service
copy from backups gbpvr.db3 and config.xml
restart recording service and try it out as a standalone.

If you really have to change the recordings drive/directory then you will have to edit (a copy of!) the backed up exports file and find/replace the drive/directory and then re-import it using config.

The above off the top of my head - but ISTR that was about it.

To absolutely make sure you have all the latest recordings in the recording_dump.xml you can manually create one. Open Config, Plugins tab, click on Export Recordings. recording_dump.xml will be created in gbpvr folder (usually C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr).

It's worth noting that there is an alternative to this method - use SQL.
I do this in SQLiteSpy with this SQL command (change from drive E: to F: ):

OK. I made the move tonight. I moved the actual recordings over to the server. I was not able to retain the same drive letter. I moved over the gbpvr.db3 file. Then I exported the recordings file on the old client, then imported the file on to the server. I edited the recording dump.xml file and replaced the drive letter with the new one. When I launch gbpvr on the client, the recordings stayed, including all the pending and recurring recordings. It recorded a couple of new shows just fine on the server and I was able to play them back on the client machine, but when I try to play an old recording it just goes to a blank screen and freezes (under streaming mode). If I change to file share, it goes to a blank screen briefly, then goes back to the recordings menu. I remember having a similar problem when I added a drive to my standalone computer and moved my recordings there, but I don't remember how I resolved it. I thought it was just as simple as editing the recording_dump file. Any help?

Never mind my previous post. This did it for me. When I first read it, I thought you were talking about updating the recordings_dump.xml file, not the database file. I didn't read it through the first time.

This worked perfect, in fact I was even changing from e: to f: just as your example showed! Thanks.
