Hello All,

Just took delivery of a brand new Asrock Ion 300HT, running windows 7. Lovely piece of kit. Just what the doctor ordered.

My problem is trying to get it to work with my projector...

My projector is currently connected to my amp(Onkyo TX-SR674) via component out. LCD is connected via HDMI out.
All devices..xbox etc, are using the component in's on AMP, and output to both LCD and Projector.
On this AMP the HDMI inputs cannot display to component outputs(downscale), and that is my problem...if i use the HDMI cable from the Asrock to HDMI in on Amp it will not display onto the projector, only the LCD.
I purchased an HDMI to Component cable like THIS but I cant get it to work. Should this cable work? Am i doing something wrong?

Can anyone PLEASE HELP:confused:

Thanks very much

Not sure how that would work without electronics since one is digital and the other analog. Read this blurb from one supplier:

http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmi-to-component-cable.html

And then of course there is the whole question over whether your hdmi source is encrypted or not.

Here is one option:

Hi, thanks for the quick response.
I have spoken to a seller on ebay who advised me HDMI is a digital signal and component is an analogue signal. Without a unit between the cables to convert the digital signal to analogue then you will not get a signal, therefore the cable I purchased is worhtless

I have now purchased a HDMI to Component Converter box, which I hope will do the trick. I will report back once tested.

Thanks

amp shouldn't have to downscale, component can do 1080 also...
[tho i suspect your projector can't,hence the need]
the hdmi out may need to be set to 720p to display on the projector..
[it's probably only a 1024x768 max]
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie
