Channel mapping with multiple transponders

When I scan for channels (cable tv) I observe that the same channel is found on multiple transponders/frequencies, Since I use DVB-EPG I don't have a choice in the Mapping field so I can choose different frequencies, like when using XMLTV. How does the config app select which transponder it picks a cretain channel from, is it the first found, the last found or does it look at the signal strength?

I'm asking because I have a problem recording some HD-channels with very weak signal, but maybe the signal is stronger on another transponder, but the thing is that I have no way of testing the different transponders.

If you temporarily set EPG source to "none" you get to be able to change mappings.
You should then be able to see which frequency each station is on an map to the best one - or be able to edit the cache file and delete those you do not want.
Remember to set EPG source back to DVB at the end.
