On Friday (19Feb), two Thursday night shows (CSI, Survivor) had not been recorded. Recordings/Pending still had them listed to be recorded the previous day. I restarted the recording service and they dropped from pending to a failed recording.
Quick look at the logs show a gap between the 17th and 19th. Logs show the service stopped the 17th.
GBPVRRecordingService.exe-2.log shows
2010-02-17 18:40:22.578 INFO [4] GB-PVR Recording Service stopping

2010-02-17 18:40:23.921 INFO [4] GB-PVR Recording Service shutdown complete
Looks like the recording service shutdown occurred about the same time as when I installed the big XP system update that started off with the C++ update. I saw a few posts about VISTA updates affecting the recording service, but nothing about this.
My system's Service Control Manager (computer management/system tools/event viewer/system) shows:
18:40:22 he GB-PVR Recording Service service was successfully sent a stop control.
18:40:24 The GB-PVR Recording Service service was successfully sent a start control.
18:40:24 The GB-PVR Recording Service service entered the stopped state.
18:40:27 The GB-PVR Recording Service service entered the running state.
18:46:21 The Windows Installer service entered the running state.
18:46:21 The Windows Installer service was successfully sent a start control.
18:46:28 Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the following update: Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (KB973924)
