I have an HVR1600 that may be used as my primary card. I was using the HVR with an HDHR, but comcast has scrambled QAM.
So I have an extra STB, and am feeding it into the analog portion of the HVR. So I have basic cable via clear QAM and extended with my extra STB.
I want to tune some channels via the STB plus HIP, and tune the other channels via the internal HVR QAM tuner. I set up multiple capture sources, and that works. The Digital stuff works smoothly. When I tune to analog, it reads the signal from the STB (which is also good).
BUt I cant seem to change channels on the STB. I installed HIP, and was able to learn the STB commands. By the way, the trick to learning the codes is to wait one or two seconds after pressing hte key to learn, then hold down the key, pressing it for one second, then letting go. Worked like a charm. Also keep the remote close the beanbag (one centimeter, no kidding).
Anyway - My quesiton is - does GBPVR just 'know' that to tune to channel 10 means - go to channel 10 on QAM tunre one, and pressing the up key in GBPVR to the next channel, 34 on analog, will switch to the other tuner AND send a 0,3,4 signal via HIP to the STB? How do I teach it to do that?
As I switch channels, GBPVR knows which tuner to fire. Does it also know how to fire the signals, and how does HIP know to take over.
Also - I forgot how EASY analog is! LOL. Thanks in advance. I am happy to share the XMP codes for the Thomson DCI1011COM - that is for the search engines). I think I can zip each IR file. But they are useless until I can prove to myself that they work!)
Thanks in advance.
